What are you going to do?

You will be deployed for investigations that are running at the Financial Economic Crime department. This includes investigations focused on complex fraud, underground banking, money laundering of criminal proceeds and facilitating this. You will search open sources (open source intelligence) for valuable information. Your duties include:

  • making (digital) money flows transparent;
  • mapping networks, partnerships and business structures;
  • tracing the assets of suspects;
  • the collection, combination and analysis of data from seized digital data carriers;
  • processing your findings into clear and structured verbal processes and/or presentations so that they are also understandable to non-technical people.

You will also work with digital specialists from other departments and share your knowledge within the team to take digital investigation within the Financial Economic Crime department to a higher level.

Where are you going to work?

The Financial Economic Crime Team consists of approximately 20 financial specialists who jointly prepare and execute investigations and take care of interventions. The team has work locations in Breda and Middelburg, for this function the location is Breda. There is close cooperation with the districts in our unit, with other investigative departments and with (external) partners, such as the FIOD and the Public Prosecution Service.

Who are you?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, inquisitive and enterprising colleague. You are a team player who actively seeks cooperation, but you can also act independently. Your heart beats faster when you do research on the internet, you know how to use the right tools for this and master the techniques to remain "invisible" yourself. In addition, you have:

  • HBO work and thinking level*;
  • knowledge of various operating systems, internet & detection, open systems, databases, telecom and multimedia and skills in working with these;
  • relevant work experience in the field of digital research;
  • good command of Dutch and English, both written and spoken.

What we offer

The location is Breda. There is room for 1 fte. This is a temporary position for a maximum of two years for 36 hours per week.

Depending on your background, you will follow a 14-week training for specific employability (36 hours per week) at the Police Academy, possibly with an additional training program required for the position. During this training(s), you will receive all the salary agreed with you. Positive completion of the mandatory assessment is a condition for starting the training. Completing the training is a requirement to be able to perform this function.  Here you will find all information  regarding the selection procedure, the assessment and the training.

During the internal specific police training you will be temporarily appointed as a trainee officer. After completing the training we will offer you a temporary appointment for a maximum period of two years. We offer an attractive package of employment conditions. Think of:

  • a gross monthly salary of at least €3,200 and a maximum of €5,156 (scale 9 Bbp) based on a 36-hour working week;
  • an Individual Choice Budget (IKB) that consists of two parts:
    • A gross part of 17.86% of your salary. With this budget you can compose a part of your employment conditions yourself. For example, think of paying out your budget, buying vacation hours or development activities such as training.
    • A net share of €377 per year. This budget can be used for sustainability goals, union dues and vitality.
  • good pension scheme and paid parental leave ( more information about leave, schemes and options ).

The formal function within the police function structure is  operational specialist A  work area digital expertise. Classification depends on knowledge and experience and is tested during the selection interview.
