The Oldenburg Police Department is looking to vacate several positions at the following locations: Cloppenburg, Cuxhaven, Diepholz, Oldenburg (ZKI), Verden and Wilhelmshaven

IT Data Forensics Clerk (m/f/d)

(Open Source Intelligence)

The positions to be filled are rated according to salary group 11 TV-L.

Your future tasks

The jobs are assigned to the respective Forensic Department of the police inspectorates or the Central Criminal Investigation Department at the above-mentioned locations and include in particular the following tasks:

  • Obtaining, analyzing, and evaluating investigative (real-time) information through open source intelligence (OSINT) research in public databases (including the Internet and social media)
  • Conducting initial and in-depth research on relevant people/issues in social networks, forums, and other online platforms (SOCMINT, personal relationships, account clarification, etc.)
  • Further development of OSINT analysis options within the framework of legally legitimate possibilities
  • Supporting investigations in the area of ​​monitoring OSINT sources
  • Documenting and recording the research carried out and the information collected for use in investigations

Your requirements profile

You are eligible to apply if you have an undergraduate degree in communication or media studies, general and digital forensics, IT forensics or a similar field of study.

We are looking for applicants who, in addition to the above-mentioned qualifications, have the following additional skills:

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English corresponding to language levels B1/B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
  • Good IT skills or knowledge of computer programs
  • Knowledge of open source intelligence (OSINT), data mining, image processing and big data architecture
  • Knowledge in the field of image and video processing as well as in the field of monitoring and analysis software such as Maltego
  • In addition, basic knowledge of criminal law / threat prevention law, data protection and information security as well as crisis communication with a focus on social media would be desirable.

In addition, applicants should possess analytical thinking skills, social skills, and the ability to work in a team. Creativity and communication skills (including presentation skills), diligence and organizational skills, as well as an interest in trends and innovations in the digital environment are also expected.

Work + private life

In addition to the standard salary of pay group 11 TV-L, you will receive a special payment at the end of the year as well as a company pension scheme (VBL).

Vacation time is 30 days per calendar year.
