Job purpose
The purpose of the Janes Tradecraft Instructor is to support the design and delivery of Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) training delivered by the Janes Tradecraft team. They will support the global intelligence community by delivering best-in-class OSINT training content and instruction. They will have a leading role in the continuing development and implementation of Janes tradecraft both internally and externally. Our work supports the wider spheres of tradecraft that are also reliant upon OSINT skillsets. The role requires a desire to maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the constantly changing OSINT tools and techniques that can be used in support of intelligence processes. The Janes Tradecraft Instructor will collaborate with SMEs (subject matter experts) to deliver, update, and quality-assure the training content and delivery.
How you will contribute at Janes
The Janes Tradecraft Instructor will work with the Tradecraft Team of intelligence professionals, the Head of Tradecraft and Subscriber Services, and SMEs in Janes data and analysis teams to develop and deliver best-in-class OSINT training. They will be responsible for the instruction and assessment of OSINT tradecraft to numerous global clients virtually and in-person.
Janes Tradecraft instructors deliver the following:
- Leading or co-delivering training on the exploitation of publicly available information (PAI) and social media
- Contribute to the curriculum development for Janes OSINT tradecraft
- Create and facilitate the appropriate training courses required for customer personnel or internal colleagues to understand OSINT tools and techniques
- Learn, maintain, and develop OSINT skills/knowledge
- Create innovative content that will support and enhance key learning objectives (KLOs)
- Identify Training Needs
- Manage and extend the learning content within the Janes tradecraft repository
The Objectives for this role include:
- Within 30 days, co-lead at least one key in-person course to a UK customer
- Within 60 days, work with key stakeholders to understand the Key Learning Objectives (KLOs) for JT offerings and internal tradecraft-related training, content, and key customers for JT offerings
- In the first 100 days, support the development and standardisation of Janes tradecraft including internal needs, tools and techniques, and course material
- In the first 6 months, consistently deliver high-quality training content and instruction to multiple customers; work with the Head of Tradecraft and Subscriber Services, other instructors and SMEs to finalise phase 1 of aligning Janes Tradecraft training KLOs, content, and assessments across different delivery channels (i.e. in-person and online training)
Requirements
The essential skills and experience for this role are:
- At least 3 years’ demonstrated analysis experience
- A proven record of effective instruction and training delivery, preferably in the intelligence domain
- Experience in working in the OSINT domain
- Confident verbal and written communicator
- Proficiency in OSINT tools and techniques
- Willingness to travel and work with a variety Defence Sector customers
The desirable skills and experience for this role are:
- Relevant qualification/qualifications in training delivery such as a PGCE or DTTT
- Must be eligible for or hold current UK security clearance
- Strong resource-planning and problem-solving skills
- Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders on a variety of concurrent projects
