Job Description
Police investigations are increasingly challenged by criminal actors' use of modern technology, digital communication and the increasing shift of crime to the online world. We are therefore looking for an information specialist with specialized knowledge in the OSINT area.
About the job
OSINT is a complex field, to which new acquisition options are constantly added, while others are out of date. Development is rapid, which is why it is necessary to stay updated on, among other things, tools, development and acquisition processes.
The Copenhagen Police Department for Intelligence and Analysis (AEA) is looking for a specialist who has experience with development, programming and web scraping, as well as other acquisition of data and information from the internet.
At AEA, you will experience a committed and motivated interdisciplinary working environment, where you have the opportunity to develop yourself and have your skills challenged. As our new employee, you will be placed in the Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) group, which on a daily basis handles investigation support and evidence collection via OSINT. We develop tools and working methods to also support the investigation, and contribute to the police's efforts being handled as optimally as possible. The job is very varied and requires a willingness to adapt, as well as an understanding of changing priorities. You must be able to collect, process and analyze relevant information in a targeted, efficient and safe manner, with a view to security and legality, which will be used for both retrospective and prospective investigations as well as intelligence efforts. Most of the time, you must be able to take responsibility for the development and implementation of new tools in collaboration with the rest of the team, based on practical experience.
We offer exciting and diverse work in a well-functioning social environment with an informal approach, where you will have a broad contact surface with AEA's various groups and partners. In addition, you will have exposure to a wide range of investigations and operational efforts in the Copenhagen Police.
Your primary tasks will include:
- Identify new OSINT tools
- Manage the implementation of tools in collaboration with the team
- Manage investigation and evidence collection via OSINT
- Manage intelligence-related information search
- Teach OSINT and pass on experience to relevant internal actors
- Participate in national and international cooperation and exchange of experience
- Prepare written documentation for use in legal proceedings
- You will sometimes have to appear in court as an expert witness
Immediately after your employment, an individual training course will be prepared for you.
About you
We expect that your professional interest is centered around development, programming, the internet and preferably the OSINT area. It is a clear advantage to have worked with investigation, intelligence or similar in the police or in the defense.
You thrive on working in a detail-oriented and in-depth manner, but also have the ability to maintain an overview. You must have good IT skills, and it is expected that you can process, validate and document collected material at a professional level, and communicate your findings to all levels of the organization. You must be familiar with several different social media, and be comfortable communicating tasks and eventually teaching within your own field. Experience with unix-based operating systems, programming, web scraping is also a plus.
In addition, you are professional in your appearance and manage to build positive team-based cooperation at a high professional level. You fit well in a team where we celebrate our successes together and where it is okay to fail, but where we together take responsibility and see learning potential.
If you can see yourself in the above, we would love to hear from you. There are no requirements for a specific educational background, but we expect you to have a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field such as information science, media science, digital methods, technoanthropology, data science, etc.
