The Intelligence unit of Security Services plays a key role in responding proactively and reactively to geopolitical threats, thereby ensuring safe KLM operations. A multidisciplinary team of experts and officers monitors a broad spectrum of threats 24/7, including geopolitical instability, cyber threats, terrorism, civil unrest, organized crime, airspace security, and hybrid threats. As a Security Expert Intel Level 2, you formulate advice based on intelligence to support the safe flight and/or ground operations of the KLM Group.

What are you going to do?

With your expertise and knowledge of geopolitics and overflights, you are responsible for analyzing and advising on risks and developments in the field of geopolitical security, all based on in-depth substantive expertise. You maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including other experts and expert groups.

In addition:

  • Prepare urgent advice, both solicited and unsolicited, regarding overflights for various stakeholders within the mandate of the Director of Intelligence, for example concerning the opening and/or closing of airspace;
  • Are you able to quickly and carefully convert information about conflicts into well-substantiated risk analyses, thanks to your rock-solid analytical and written skills;
  • Are you a strong team player and advisor, and do you represent the Intelligence team internally, and when necessary externally, in tactical meetings based on your expertise in geopolitical security;
  • You initiate and coordinate subject-matter contributions to projects and programs, among other things by developing and innovating working methods and the use of tools within the Intelligence team.

Where do you land?

Security Services consists of five units, namely: Intelligence, Regulations, Operations, Integrity, and Data and Innovation. This position falls within the Intelligence unit.

The Security Services department provides 24/7 services to ensure the continuity of the KLM Group's operations and business processes by acting both proactively and reactively to security threats, risks, and challenges, with the motto: Your security, our priority.

Your workplace will be Building 201 at Schiphol-Oost. You will work from this location(s) for (at least) 3 days. On the remaining days, you can work from home, if desired.

This is a full-time position requiring flexibility. Given the nature of the work, on-call duty outside office hours is part of the job (on average, you will be available 24/7 one week out of every three), and you may also be asked to work early and late shifts.

Your profile

You are a proven expert in the field of geopolitics and overflights. You grasp the complexity of the playing field in which you operate.

Furthermore, bring:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree and at least 5 years of work experience;
  • A background and/or work experience in international relations, intelligence, or a similar field;
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to quickly understand complex data and translate it into actionable advice;
  • Ability to quickly switch between different issues and priorities, even under time pressure;
