Missions

The OSINT Analyst - Continental Europe M/F will report to the "Actors & Threats" office of the Operations Division. In this role, their main missions will be as follows:

  • investigations on social networks and mastery of research and exploitation tools;
  • investigations into attacking digital infrastructures and mastery of the concept of technical pivots;
  • processing and analysis of the information collected, exploitation and cross-referencing of information to confirm/rebut the hypotheses made;
  • production of analyses, summary notes and reports;
  • construction of knowledge bases and feeding of capitalization bases, updating of reference materials;
  • participation in guiding the work of data scientists;
  • participation in inter-ministerial work to combat information manipulation.

Desired profile

Coming from a university education (Bac+5) with specialization in political science (Bac+3), international relations or geopolitics, the future OSINT analyst - Continental Europe must have at least 3 years of experience in a similar position.

The following skills are required for the position in question:

  • advanced knowledge in open source investigations (OSINT);
  • understanding and identifying methods of information manipulation and online influence;
  • knowledge of the Russian-speaking segment of the Internet (Runet);
  • knowledge of good practices for using the Internet, operational security;
  • mastery of international politics and understanding of crisis dynamics;
  • writing skills;
  • English proficiency;
  • in-depth knowledge/notions of Russian.

The future OSINT analyst - Continental Europe must have a digital culture and demonstrate critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, teaching skills and technical skills.

Special exercise condition

  • As the position requires access to information covered by national defense secrets, the incumbent will be subject to an authorization procedure, in accordance with the provisions of Articles R.2311-1 et seq. of the Defense Code and IGI 1300 SGDSN/PSE/PSD of August 9, 2021.

Who are we ?

VIGINUM is the State's technical and operational service responsible for monitoring and protecting against foreign digital interference. Created in 2021, it addresses a major challenge: protecting digital public debate from information manipulation involving foreign actors aimed at harming France and its interests.

Its missions are to detect these campaigns and understand their characteristics (mode of operation, narrative construction, origin).
