The Central Criminal Investigation Department of the Göttingen Police Directorate is looking to appoint a

IT Data Forensics/OSINT Administrator (m/f/d)- Salary Group 11 TV-L-

A permanent, full-time position (39.8 hours per week) is available.

The position is generally suitable for part-time work.

The location is in Hildesheim.

The position "IT Data Forensics/OSINT Administrative Assistant" (m/f/d) is located in the Forensics Department.

Your requirements profile

  • Successfully completed bachelor's degree in communication and media studies, general and digital forensics, IT forensics or similar courses.

The position is classified in salary group 11 TV-L (from €4,064.54 gross in level 1).  

This role requires experience in the use of analysis and monitoring tools, as well as experience in working with relational and non-relational databases. Furthermore, experience in OSINT and social media, as well as confident use of search engines (e.g., Google operators) and the secure use of mobile devices (e.g., smartphones and tablets) are expected. Furthermore,the position requires analytical thinking, creativity, and communication skills (e.g., presentation skills). Furthermore, a high degree of diligence, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a team are expected. Proficiency in written and spoken English corresponding to language level B1/B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​is required.

Your future tasks

The activities essentially include the following tasks:

  • Obtaining information through OSINT research and research in large (public) data sets (Big Data) using OSINT
  • Conducting OFINT (Open Financial Intelligence) research, e.g., crypto investigations
  • Application of SOCMINT (Social Media Intelligence) methods to create relationship networks
  • Use of analysis and evaluation tools such as Maltego, OsintBox or search operators for search engines
  • Further development of OSINT analysis capabilities
  • Creating requests to providers to obtain inventory data from accounts
  • Operation of police query systems such as NIVADIS, EMA, NA 2.0, eFBS, PIAV and FARMEx
  • Creating, maintaining and using covert social media accounts (sock puppets) or online “aliases” for criminal purposes within the legal framework
  • Conducting data analyses and verifying the information obtained (e.g. fake news, credibility) through individual assessment
  • Documentation and quality management
