Police Region Mitt is located in the middle of the country with its capital in Uppsala. The operations in the region are organized into three police areas: Uppsala, Västmanland and Gävleborg, which together are divided into eight local police areas. There are also three regional units: the operational unit, the intelligence unit and the investigation unit, a regional office and national departments that are represented in the region to provide support for police operations.  

Uppsala Police Area is one of the police areas in the Central region with Uppsala as its capital. The area extends from Håbo in the south to Älvkarleby in the north. The geographical area includes 8 municipalities.

The Uppsala Police District is divided into three local police districts: Uppsala/Knivsta, Enköping/Håbo and Norduppland. At the police district level there is an investigation section and an area office.

As an Internet Retriever, you will be part of the Investigation Section. The group's mission is to support investigative activities with its specialist expertise. The Investigation Section is a complex and challenging workplace with a large influx of different cases and is in many ways the hub of the police area's criminal investigation activities.

Job description

As an internet investigator, you will mainly work in a criminal investigation and crime prevention assignment by obtaining, collecting and analyzing information from the internet, also known as OSINT (Open Source Intelligence). In your assignment, you will, among other things, support the Police Area's investigative activities in areas such as serious crimes, cybercrime and IT forensics. The work is done both individually and in investigation teams and the preliminary investigations you will work on are often of an extensive and complex nature. In the role of internet investigator, you contribute to the development of technology and methods in the area, which is why a strong interest in internet technology and related areas is important.

Other duties that may occur:

• Securing evidence, processing, analyzing and recording material obtained from the internet
• Conduct analyses of mobile phones and associated communication applications
• Collaborate with other police regions, departments, authorities and
  external organizations both nationally and internationally
• Prepare and report cases to other stakeholders

The Internet Retriever position is under construction, which means that it can be shaped according to both the needs of law enforcement and your experiences and personal qualities. We are therefore looking for someone who is flexible, has great commitment and a desire to develop and improve the business. Currently, there is the opportunity to work from home two days a week.

Qualifications

This is an opportunity for you who have:

• Post-secondary education that the employer deems relevant or equivalent work experience that is deemed relevant
• Functionally relevant experience in IT and a quick learning ability in new IT systems
• Very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
• Swedish citizenship

It is an advantage if you also have:

• Experience of work where you have collected and/or processed large amounts of digital information
• Knowledge of information retrieval on the Internet
• Experience in conducting criminal investigations
• Good knowledge of Excel

As an Internet Retriever, you need to be flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing working conditions and priorities. You are driven by learning new things, are solution-oriented and take responsibility for identifying what skills you need to meet the business's needs going forward. You work in a structured and methodical manner, which is crucial for handling the large amounts of data that you will be working with.

Your ability to collaborate is a key component, as you will be working with different skills in the role. As a person, you are analytical, which helps you identify patterns and draw correct conclusions from detailed and sometimes incomplete information. Furthermore, you are good at communicating complex information in an educational way, both written and verbally.
