Job Description
What are you going to do?
Providing intelligence teams with open source intelligence (OSINT) products and thereby contributing to intelligence research. That is your most important task as a Senior OSINT researcher at the Military Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD) in The Hague. In this role, you will become acquainted with the many different substantive subjects that the MIVD deals with. And you will do work that is directly relevant to the security of the Netherlands and our allies every day.
Obtaining, analysing and interpreting information
As a Senior OSINT researcher, you have a unique specialism based on knowledge of an area of interest relevant to the MIVD. Think, for example, of the Chinese or Russian language and culture, military technology or artificial intelligence. With this knowledge, you will start working for Bureau OSINT, where you will be part of a research cluster. Within this cluster, you will independently conduct research in open sources. You assess large amounts of information and sources for relevance and then analyse and interpret this information accurately. Of course, you do this in accordance with the procedures in a safe manner. Our intelligence teams depend on your products every day, which must be correct, complete and up-to-date. You are also involved in:
- processing your findings into a single source intelligence product;
- aligning your analysis with multidisciplinary specialists within an all-source intelligence team;
- guiding and coaching other OSINT researchers within your unique specialism;
- providing coordinating contributions to development tasks;
- taking courses, training and education to broaden and/or deepen your knowledge.
Development
Because you work with sensitive information at the MIVD, you cannot discuss the content of your work with friends and family. Fortunately, you can discuss it with colleagues, and that is why you build a strong bond with them. This is why there is a mutual bond within the MIVD. It is partly the reason why most people stay with the organization for a long time. Boring? Our work never becomes that. The importance of our work is so great that the organization is prepared to invest in your development and continuous training.
Who are we looking for?
Your analytical skills are well developed. This allows you to maintain an overview even in a complex environment. Furthermore, you are curious and like to show initiative. Every day, you look for new information that may be important for your team. You also like to consult with others and are able to guide and coach direct colleagues within your specialism. At the MIVD, you work on intelligence that may be of vital importance. This requires a great sense of responsibility. You also have:
- what working and thinking level;
- good basic knowledge of IT systems;
- current knowledge of the OSINT field and the areas of interest of the MIVD;
- extensive, subject-specific knowledge of an area of interest relevant to the MIVD, such as Chinese language and culture, Russian language and culture, military technology (land, maritime or air) or the cyber domain;
- experience in professional coaching and guidance of people;
- experience in coordinating activities;
- good command of the Dutch and English language, both spoken and written.

In addition to your salary, you will receive an Individual Choice Budget (IKB). The IKB consists of money (16.33% of your gross annual salary) and time. With the IKB, you make the choices that suit you and you can put together part of your employment conditions yourself. Military Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD)
The Military Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD) is part of the Ministry of Defence. The service supports the preparation of units and military missions and peace operations. For this purpose, we acquire intelligence and security information worldwide at strategic, tactical and operational level. The MIVD thus plays a crucial role in the decision-making by the military leadership and the political top.

The Bureau Osint department
Bureau OSINT researchers produce single source intelligence based on information from open sources. By working together with multidisciplinary intelligence teams, Bureau OSINT contributes to the all-source intelligence process of the MIVD. In addition to conducting research, Bureau OSINT researchers advise on the application possibilities of OSINT within the intelligence process and contribute to the constant innovation of the bureau. Bureau OSINT also carries out activities in the field of RD&I, IT development, data-driven work and (international) cooperation.

A security investigation is part of the application procedure.
In order to be eligible for a position at the MIVD, you must have Dutch nationality and (in principle) have lived in the Netherlands for the past ten years. Certain requirements are also imposed on your partner and other people in your environment.
The position is not suitable for working from home due to the classified nature of the information processing.
