senior intelligence RTIC
Job Description
What are you going to do?
The control room receives reports for the police, fire brigade and ambulance for the provinces of Gelderland and Overijssel. With these reports, you look up information about people or situations. The most important thing is that you look for information to which you add data and knowledge so that it becomes intelligence. You then add this to the report. In doing so, you distinguish between main and secondary issues so that only the essential is shared with colleagues on the street and detection.
You work in multiple police systems and sources simultaneously. In addition, you use Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) such as Instagram, X and Flight-traffic. Images from, for example, a helicopter or drone are playing an increasingly important role. An example of a report is a shooting. You will search the systems to see if you can find information about the people involved, what a possible motive is and whether a network is known. Or think of an acute disappearance. Then you will search for information about possible places of residence, contacts and, for example, reasons for disappearance. Time pressure plays a crucial role here.
As a senior, you are also regularly deployed as a day coordinator (DACO). In this role, you keep an overview of the distribution of the workload and you are the point of contact. You coordinate and prioritize the work within the Real Time Intelligence Center (RTIC). You guide colleagues in their work and transfer knowledge and skills as a coach. You are proactive in your work and focus on quality. During large-scale incidents, you ensure scaling up together with the officer on duty intelligence.
The control room receives reports 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You work in shifts, early, late and night shifts. Also in the weekend and on holidays. In addition, there are shifts from 10:00 to 18:00 or from 18:00 to 02:00 in which additional work is performed. There is also room to perform secondary tasks that fit your expertise.
Where are you going to work?
The RTIC is part of the Regional Intelligence Organization Service (DRIO) and you will be working at the largest control room in the Netherlands, in the East Netherlands unit. From Apeldoorn, you will add intelligence to 112 reports that come in, on average around 27,000 per month. A combination of these incoming 112 reports, many colleagues on the work floor and peak times in the workload make your work and environment dynamic. Collegiality, with 50 colleagues on the work floor, is important to us. Being able to talk to each other about the impact of a report, but also humor plays a major role within the team. There are sufficient opportunities to continue to develop and innovate yourself.
Who are you?
You are broadly oriented towards society but also curious and ask questions when you think it is necessary. You provide a good context to the words you have found. There is a difference between 'someone is violent' and 'someone is possibly violent'. You get energy from working in a dynamic environment. In addition, you feel at home working with computer systems. You can distinguish between main and secondary issues, you continuously set priorities and can quickly switch, filter and search in this. Each report requires its own approach. You radiate calm and are focused on quality. You are a connector and know how to inspire people. Although reports are never pleasant, it gives you energy to make a valuable contribution to solving and handling the report. And you would like to contribute to the development of the RTIC.
