Senior Analyst – Information Integrity & Hybrid Threats
Job Description
The Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) is seeking a Senior Analyst to join its Democracy Shield Task Force. The successful candidate will lead analytical work on information warfare, hybrid threats, Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI), election integrity, and digital regulation.
About the Role
The Senior Analyst plays a central role in shaping analytical methodologies and delivering high-impact research for international initiatives. This position requires a professional with at least 4–5 years of experience who can combine advanced online network analysis with policy-oriented research and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will take ownership of analytical workstreams and represent CSD in high-level expert and institutional settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Methodological Leadership: Design and lead frameworks for monitoring narrative manipulation and FIMI across various platforms and international contexts.
- Advanced Analysis: Conduct social media network analysis to detect coordinated behavior, influence patterns, and narrative dynamics.
- OSINT Mapping: Apply open-source intelligence techniques to map malign influence ecosystems and digital infrastructures.
- Policy Impact: Translate complex findings into structured reports, policy briefs, and strategic recommendations for international stakeholders.
- Proposal Development: Lead the analytical and methodological design of project proposals for international calls.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate with institutional partners and expert communities at both the national and international levels.
- Representation: Present research findings in public forums, briefings, and international conferences.
- Internal Growth: Contribute to the development of analytical workflows and internal tools within the task force.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Subject Expertise: 4–5+ years of experience in FIMI analysis, counter-extremism, election integrity, or online harms research.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated experience with social media content analysis, network mapping, and social listening/OSINT tools.
- Methodological Independence: Proven ability to design and implement research methodologies independently.
- Strategic Communication: Superior analytical writing skills; ability to produce structured, policy-relevant outputs for an international audience.
- Project Experience: Experience working on research or policy projects involving institutional partners and international cooperation.
- Language: Native or professional fluency in Bulgarian and English (mandatory).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with platform governance frameworks (e.g., DSA) and the regulatory aspects of online safety.
