Society is digitizing faster than ever, and the police must keep pace. That's why we're looking for a police volunteer with extensive digital knowledge and experience. You understand the dynamics of the online world, including youth issues. You closely follow digital trends and know exactly what's important in digital processes within police work. As a police volunteer, you'll support colleagues with your digital experience on issues where online information plays a significant role. You'll work with open sources, identify digital phenomena, and strengthen the digital expertise within the basic teams. Your duties will include:

Digital information & expertise:

  • You share your digital knowledge with colleagues in the form of explanations, presentations and quality support (both internal and external).
  • You assist colleagues with digital issues, from signaling to interpretation.
  • You strengthen the digital resilience of basic teams by clearly explaining what happens online.
  • You easily create support for yourself, the theme and the ideas you express.

In the field of youth & digitalization:

  • do you have a well-developed insight into the online world of young people;
  • recognize digital trends, developments and online dynamics;
  • translate your online signals into useful information for colleagues.

In the field of OSINT research:

  • are you demonstrably skilled in OSINT research;
  • can you collect and analyze online information carefully, in a structured and responsible manner;
  • use your digital expertise to extract valuable insights from open sources.

Where are you going to work?

You'll become part of the Police Volunteer Coordination Team, where colleagues with diverse digital and operational backgrounds collaborate. Your work will focus on one of the four core teams in the Central North District within the Amsterdam Unit.

Who are you?

You have demonstrable experience and expertise in the digital field. You possess strong communication and coaching skills. You also have a problem-solving and digital mindset. You are familiar with digitalization and understand how online platforms, trends, and digital risks evolve. Furthermore, you are stress-resistant and have insight into or an affinity for the online world, including youth.

You are also skilled in OSINT research. You demonstrate initiative and are flexible. You work accurately, think analytically, and possess excellent digital skills. You easily generate support for yourself, the topic, and the ideas you promote. You are able to communicate complex digital information to colleagues in an understandable way.

Furthermore:

  • are you available at least 6 hours a week;
  • underline the core values ​​of the police;
  • Are you willing and available to follow a part-time course of six months in the evenings and sometimes on Saturdays?

What do we offer?

A volunteer allowance of €9.89 gross per hour and travel allowance in accordance with the guidelines (commuting and business trips).

We offer a training program consisting of an intensive part-time course at the Police Academy in Leusden lasting approximately six months, so you can be appointed as a police volunteer, specifically for executive duties. After completing the training, you will receive investigative authority in your specialty. Completing the training is a requirement for this position.

Successful completion of the mandatory assessment is a condition for participating in the training course.

Upon appointment, you accept the legal status that comes with the position. You will be appointed as a police officer for executive-specific duties with a one-year probationary period.

What else is important

  • You are willing to follow a part-time course, in which you attend classes in person in Leusden at least one evening a week, take one online class a week and also spend a few hours on self-study.
  • The selection procedure consists of a letter selection, a selection interview and an assessment to be admitted to the police volunteer training specific deployment.
  • A security screening is part of the selection procedure.
  • The job interviews will take place in weeks 6 and 7 of 2026.
