OSINT specialist for the National Unit for Special Crimes
Job Description
Do you also think that the Internet is a fantastic playground? Do you love solving puzzles, following a clue and diving into data in search of the information that makes all the pieces fall into place - and turns on the light in a dark, digital room?
Then you might be the digital sleuth that we are missing in the Section for HUMINT and OSINT at NSK.
Your new everyday life
The Intelligence and Analysis Center (EAC) is part of the National Unit for Serious Crime (NSK), which brings together the police and the prosecution's specialized efforts against organized, economic and digital crime.
We ensure that NSK always has an updated and accurate picture of the most complex crime in Denmark by collecting and analyzing knowledge across the board and translating it into usable intelligence, which is used from strategic planning to specific investigations.
You will be part of the Section for HUMINT and OSINT, where we combine classic intelligence work with modern digital methods. We obtain, analyze and document information from open sources and human networks to strengthen the police's overall efforts against organized crime.
We support the police districts with evidence collection, monitoring and documentation, and continuously develop new tools that strengthen the OSINT capacity throughout the Danish police.
Your most important tasks will be to:
- Support NSK's investigative sections with investigation and evidence collection from open sources
- Conduct intelligence-based information search and monitoring
- Develop and improve OSINT methods and identify and test new tools
- Participate in national and international collaboration and knowledge sharing
- Teaching OSINT at the Police Academy.
Your colleagues are dedicated and professionally proud online detectives with diverse backgrounds – both civilian and police trained. We enjoy experimenting with web technologies and APIs, scripting in Python, JavaScript and Bash and analyzing network traffic in tools like Burp Suite.
We have an informal tone and a strong collegial community, where we can both laugh together and spar over complex tasks. We set high standards for the quality of our work and emphasize commitment and shared responsibility.
Our new colleague
Your education and background are not crucial – what is most important is your curiosity and your desire to understand how things are connected – both technically and humanly. You thrive in the field between technology, analysis and investigation, where you combine creative thinking with systematics and see patterns that others overlook.
You have a solid technical understanding and are used to using the internet as a work tool, perhaps through scripting, data analysis, security or digital research. You do not need to know our systems in advance, but you learn quickly and have the courage to experiment and develop methods together with colleagues who share your curiosity.
You have an eye for detail and can communicate your results clearly and precisely to colleagues without a technical background. You value precision, documentation and quality because you know that your work can have an impact in real cases.
Collaboration comes naturally to you. You thrive in an environment where knowledge is shared and solutions are found together. You work independently and take responsibility for following through on your tasks.
Maybe you have experience with cybersecurity, data analysis, journalistic research or information retrieval – or maybe you are just the type who always wants to understand what is happening behind the scenes when you click on a link.
Common to everything you do is your professional pride and respect for the importance of the task. You are motivated by using your technical curiosity to make a difference – and find meaning in putting your knowledge at the service of society.
