About the Role

We’re seeking a sharp, resourceful, and highly adaptive Competitive Intelligence Researcher to join our team. In this role, you’ll leverage OSINT techniques and dynamic research methodologies to uncover and analyze data on competitors, partnerships, legal activity, and emerging opportunities. Research conducted will directly inform our marketing, sales, and strategic planning initiatives, and should be conducted with those goals in mind.

This is a renewing contract role that may be available for direct hire depending on performance and mutual satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Competitive Intelligence (40%)
  • Conduct in-depth OSINT investigations to monitor and report on competitor activities, including product launches, customer wins, partnerships, organizational changes, and legal matters.
  • Track and summarize public filings, press releases, regulatory updates, and patent activity related to key competitors.
  • Surface early indicators of market movements and competitive threats.

Lead & Contact Discovery (40%)
  • Identify high-value leads and strategic targets during stages of development that align with our product applications.
  • Map key decision makers across target organizations and gather verified contact information using ethical sourcing techniques
  • Create personality profiles of high-value leads to inform direct sales outreach methods using publicly accessible information.

Market Research (20%)
  • Support ongoing market research efforts to identify new growth opportunities, customer segments, and pain points.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor positioning, and whitespace analysis to support content, campaign, and product strategy.
  • Contribute to regular internal reports that synthesize findings into actionable insights for marketing and executive leadership.

Requirements
  • 2–4 years of experience in competitive research, market intelligence, or investigative research (B2B tech or industrial sectors preferred).
  • Expertise in OSINT techniques, Boolean search logic, and adaptive research across open-source platforms.
  • Familiarity with tools like LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Crunchbase, ZoomInfo, or similar.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; able to distill large amounts of information into clear insights.
  • Strong non-linear reasoning skills, able; able to draw conclusions from disconnected data for forward the investigation.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, and actionable reports.
  • Comfort working autonomously in a fast-paced, ambiguity-friendly environment.
