The OSINT Analyst - Asia Pacific (Internship) M/F will report to the actors & threats office of the operations division. In this capacity, their main missions will be as follows:

  • Active monitoring and in-depth analysis of major social networks and media / mastery of research and exploitation tools;
  • Research and collection of geopolitical, economic, social, and cultural information from open sources;
  • Processing and analysis of collected information / exploitation and cross-referencing of information to confirm/invalidate hypotheses;
  • Production of analyses, summary notes, and reports;
  • Development of thematic dossiers;
  • Building knowledge bases, updating references, and producing mappings;
  • Participation in guiding the work of Data Scientists.

Profile Sought

From a university education (Bachelor's +3, Master's +5) with specialization in geopolitics, political science, and/or international relations specific to the Asia Pacific region, in addition to language skills; the OSINT Analyst - Asia Pacific (Internship) M/F must demonstrate an interest in open-source research (OSINT), a good knowledge of OSINT methodologies and tools. Knowledge of issues related to social networks and online platforms in the Asia Pacific region would be highly appreciated.

The following skills will be developed during the internship:

  • OSINT and mastery of monitoring and internet research techniques;
  • Most effective communication vectors on the internet and foreign social networks;
  • Statistical analysis of data;
  • Understanding and identification of information manipulation and online influence methods;
  • Mastery of the sociology of web communities;
  • Knowledge of best practices for internet use, vigilance in navigating social networks;
  • Mastery of international politics and understanding of crisis dynamics;
  • Good writing skills.

The OSINT Analyst - Asia Pacific (Internship) M/F must have a digital culture and demonstrate critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, pedagogy, technical aptitude, effective communication, dynamism, and tenacity.

A strong sense of initiative and adaptability, as well as the ability to work in a team, are required. The mission also requires rigor, availability, and discretion.

Proficiency in a foreign language (Korean, Mandarin, English) will be appreciated.

Special Conditions of Exercise

  • The position requires access to information classified as national defense secrets, the holder will be subject to a clearance procedure, in accordance with the provisions of articles R.2311-1 et seq. of the Defense Code and IGI 1300 SGDSN/PSE/PSD of August 9, 2021.

Created in 2021, it addresses a major challenge: preserving the digital public debate from information manipulations involving foreign actors aimed at harming France and its interests.

Its missions are to detect these campaigns and understand their characteristics (modus operandi, narrative construction, origin).
