The Centre for Information Resilience (CIR) is recruiting multiple open-source investigators for projects investigating human rights violations and malign influence operations in Sudan and the Sahel.
About CIR
CIR is an independent, non-profit social enterprise dedicated to countering disinformation, exposing human rights abuses, and combating online behaviour harmful to women and minorities. We achieve these goals through research, digital investigations, strategic communications, building the capacity of local partners, and supporting media to amplify the impact of our work.
Whilst CIR working language is English our staff are based across Europe, the UK and other countries reflecting the diversity of our workforce and our commitment to international collaboration.
Responsibilities and required experience
- Using open-source research tools and techniques to detect and verify suspected human rights violations incidents or malign influence operations
- Verifying information from public sources using geolocation, chronolocation and other methods
- Planning complex investigations, analysing multiple sources, and producing impactful reports regarding human rights violations, risks of atrocities, and actors propagation disinformation
- Contributing to skills transfer to diverse beneficiaries through training and mentoring
An ability to conduct research in Arabic or French Sahel-specific will be advantageous.
Experience of the specific political and security contexts of Sudan and the Sahel will be valued highly.
Working Arrangements
This role can be undertaken remotely in the UK or other countries.
